PROFESSIONAL BIO
Valerie Savage is the founder of For Women's Sake. Valerie has held executive positions in private and publicly-traded companies, in financial and operational roles, most recently as Chief Financial Officer of Sky-Trax, Inc., a provider of optical real-time location systems and Chief Executive Officer of Gamete, Inc., a life-sciences company focused on artificial insemination products. Prior to Gamete, Valerie was Chief Financial Officer of Crossroads Systems and Patton Surgical. She has also provided strategic consulting services to both large and small companies, including Motive and Image Microsystems.
Earlier in her career, Valerie held financial and investor relations positions with drkoop.com, IntelliQuest Information Group and Kallestad Diagnostics. She has directly participated in two initial public offerings and a follow-on offering, and has assisted other public offerings in a consulting capacity.
Valerie's profession as a financial executive began with Deloitte LLP. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from The University of Texas at Dallas with a B.S. in Accounting. Valerie is also a Certified Public Accountant.
COUNSELING BIO
Valerie is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern, having completed the initial requirements for licensure by the state of Texas, pending full licensure following completion of 3000 practice hours. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. Edward's University with an M.A. in Counseling. Her coursework, projects and seminars focused on women's issues, including stress/anxiety, depression, disordered eating and marital relations. She has also completed Levels I and II training in the Gottman Method of Marital Therapy.
Valerie served her internships at Celebration Church Counseling Center, Georgetown, Texas and at Success Strategies Unlimited, Austin, Texas. Related experience includes serving as Mentor Coordinator for Mothers of Preschoolers (M.O.P.S.) and as a public speaker for women's groups, church retreats, pastoral care teams and professional organizations such as Priority Associates on various women's issues.
In addition to her private practice, Valerie is a member of the Austin Eating Disorder Specialists and is a program therapist leading groups at Cedar Springs Austin Eating Disorder Treatment Center.
PERSONAL BIO
Valerie has been active in Austin's business and philanthropic communities, serving as a committee member for the annual Women's Entrepreneur Conference of AWT (Austin Women in Technology) and as President of the Austin Chapter of (NIRI) National Investor Relations Institute, as well as Treasurer of the Austin Children's Museum, and Austin Lyric Opera Guild member. Valerie is also a past Board member of Impact Austin, a women's philanthropic organization that seeks to develop and inspire women to effect positive change through high-impact grants. She is currently a member of AWT's Executive Women's Forum and the American Heart Association's Circle of Red, a giving circle aimed at is a group of women committed to support education of heart disease prevention and inspire women to take charge of their health.
Most importantly, Valerie is a wife and mother of three children - and a multi-faceted career woman dedicated to helping others achieve their personal and professional goals.
